Don’t miss hearing Clement Soffer and The Daring Rescue of Syrian Jewry. He has compelling stories of Activism, Faith & Service.

In 1957, at the age of 16, Clement Soffer was expulsed from Egypt and became stateless. He was able to get a student visa with the help of Senator Jacob Javits and came to study in Brooklyn, N.Y. He had no relatives in the US, as his family was forced to stay in Egypt.

Clement became an advocate for Jewish communities in distress, rescuing 4,500 Jews from Syria to freedom from the hands of President Hafez El Assad.  He was also responsible for removing 100 Torah scrolls from Syria.

Clement also played a role in saving and restoring over 100 Jewish cemeteries from destruction in Ukraine, Portugal, India, Egypt, Germany, and Belarus.

He received a Congressional award for championing international human rights; as well as congratulatory letters from Governor Mario Cuomo, Senators Joseph Lieberman, Charles Schumer, Bob Kestin, Daniel Inoue, and Frank Lautenberg.

Clement’s life is about activism, faith, and service. Clem speaks six languages. Married and together with his wife Emma, has 2 married sons & 4 grandchildren, and after a long, successful career in business, he dedicated his life to sharing his story and message, inspiring his spellbound audiences across the USA and in Canada.
