MATCHING CAMPAIGN: $200,000 GOAL

Operation Miriam empowers young female refugees from war-torn Ukraine and Israel the opportunity to rebuild their lives in Quebec. Through a holistic approach, we provide shelter, trauma support, education and vocational training, ensuring these resilient women have the foundation they need to flourish. Displaced by conflict, they face immense challenges, but with your support, we can “Light the Path” and offer them a brighter future. Our campaign will fund critical services and educational programs, helping these courageous women to become active, empowered members of the Montreal community. Together, we can ensure they have the tools and support needed to rebuild their lives and contribute to society.

What inspired this project

Witnessing the devastation faced by refugees under attack in Ukraine and Israel, we saw an urgent need for a safe space where these displaced women could heal, learn and rebuild. Our project was born out of a commitment to helping young women ages 18-25 whose lives have been shattered by conflict. Our mission was inspired by their resilience, potential, and the understanding that education and community support are key to their successful integration. The program was created to provide immediate refuge, which is does, but we also empower them to thrive in their new home, contributing to Quebec society with dignity and confidence.

What will the requested amount be used for?

When we reach our campaign goal, the funds will provide essential support for Operation Miriam’s refugee students. This includes safe housing, trauma counseling, education, and vocational training. The money will be used for necessities like clothing, school supplies, and living expenses, ensuring these young women can rebuild their lives with dignity. It will also help them develop skills for meaningful employment, such as a unique focus on teacher training, enabling graduates to reach out to children of all ages and to stimulate the gifted mind as well as special needs children. The institute’s program “Lights the Path,” ensuring all of its students the capability to integrate into the Montreal community and lead independent, fulfilling lives.
